PAULS PLACE
The Pavlovsk Palace was built in the countryside outside St Petersburg by Catherine the Great for her son Paul ("Pavlovsk" is derived from the name of Paul). It was started in 1780.
You cannot see the exterior very well because it is covered in scaffolding. Lots of renovation work is happening around SPB because an International G8 summit of world leaders is taking place in summer 2006. SPB is being scrubbed clean (it needs it !!) and make safe for world leaders.
There are some interior shots - lots more when I get home.
